Store your solar. Run the DG set less. Stay within your contract demand.
A battery energy storage system (BESS) stores power when you have it and gives it back when you need it. We sell UnityESS systems, from a 128 kWh cabinet to a 5.161 MWh container. UnityESS, a joint venture of Ornate Solar and Inverted Energy, sizes, installs, commissions and monitors them.
Powered by
- Up to 5.161 MWhper unit, from a 128 kWh Aura cabinet
- 8,000 cyclesrated lifetime on the Aqua and Ultima datasheets
- LFPlithium iron phosphate cells, 314 Ah or 350 Ah
- IEC 62619plus IEC 61000, UL 9540(A) and UN 38.3, on every datasheet
Where a battery pays its way
A battery does not make power; it shifts it to when you need it. For a business, that pays off in four ways, and which one counts most depends on your tariff and your load. It suits factories, hospitals, cold stores, hotels and EV charging sites.
Run the DG set less
When the grid fails, a battery set up for backup carries the load, with no fuel and no wait for an engine to start. Aura’s datasheet gives a switchover under 20 ms; for the other models, UnityESS engineers confirm backup when they size the system. For long outages, the DG set can stay as the last backup and run fewer hours.
Stay within your contract demand
Motor starts, furnace cycles and shift changes cause short spikes in demand. If they cross your sanctioned contract demand, the excess is billed as a penalty. The battery covers the spikes, so you stay within the limit, and you may be able to ask for a lower one.
Use more of your own solar
At midday a rooftop plant often makes more than the site can use. If that surplus is not credited to you, it is simply lost to the grid. The battery stores it and gives it back in the evening.
Get through the evening peak
Where your tariff charges more in peak hours, the battery charges in cheaper hours and runs the site through the peak. Unity EMS does this on its own, every day.
Send us your bills and UnityESS engineers will tell you which of these applies to your site.

Frequently asked questions
What is a BESS?
BESS stands for battery energy storage system. It stores electricity in batteries and gives it back when you need it. A UnityESS unit brings together LFP battery racks, a battery management system, power conversion, cooling and fire protection in one cabinet or container, run by Unity EMS software.
Can a battery replace my diesel generator?
Set up for backup, it carries the site through an outage with no fuel and no engine start, and unlike a DG set it also works every day, storing solar and covering peaks. Whether it replaces the generator or runs alongside it depends on how long your outages last. Many sites keep the generator as the last backup and run it less. UnityESS engineers size this from your outage pattern and DG logbook.
How is a BESS different from a UPS?
A UPS bridges a short gap for selected loads, usually computers and controls. A BESS stores hours of energy for much larger loads, and it works every day, not only in a power cut. Aura switches to backup in under 20 ms, per its datasheet. In a hospital or data centre, UnityESS engineers advise which loads should stay on a UPS.
How is the system sized?
By two numbers. Power, in kW, is the most load it must carry at once. Energy, in kWh, is that power multiplied by the hours it must carry it. UnityESS engineers work these out from your bills, contract demand, DG logbook and solar data. Larger systems are configurable, sized by UnityESS engineers.
Is a lithium battery safe at my site?
Every UnityESS model uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells, a stable chemistry widely used for stationary storage. Protection runs from a cell-level battery management system up to system-level protection. Each datasheet lists temperature and smoke detection with aerosol and flooding fire fighting, and the Ultima container adds an alarm bell and strobe. The standards named on every datasheet are IEC 62619, IEC 61000, UL 9540(A) and UN 38.3.
How much space does it need, and how heavy is it?
From the datasheets, width × depth × height: Aura is 1050 × 1050 × 2200 mm and 1,500 kg plus 100 kg. Aqua 4 is 1100 × 1320 × 2560 mm and 2,600 kg for 261 kWh, or 2200 × 1320 × 2560 mm and 4,150 kg for 522 kWh. Aqua 6 and Aqua 8 are 1690 × 1350 × 2400 mm and 3,800 kg, or 3400 × 1350 × 2400 mm and 6,600 kg. Ultima is a 6058 × 2436 × 2896 mm container of 40 to 49 tons. UnityESS’s civil drawings set the base it stands on.
How long does the battery last?
The Aqua and Ultima datasheets rate the battery at 8,000 cycles. One cycle is one full charge and discharge, so the years you get depend on how often your system cycles. The Aura datasheet does not print a cycle figure; ask us and we will confirm it with your quote. Every datasheet gives a DC round-trip efficiency above 94%.
Will it work with my rooftop solar?
Aura has a solar input built in: up to 100 kW of panels at 650 to 800 V DC, on a single MPPT. Aqua and Ultima have no solar input of their own; they connect on the AC side, and UnityESS engineers confirm how they work with your existing solar plant.
What does a BESS cost?
Price on request. It depends on the power and storage you need, the model and the work at your site. Send your bills on WhatsApp; once UnityESS engineers have sized the system, we send you a quote.
Who installs it, and who looks after it?
UnityESS. Its engineers design, install and commission the system, Unity EMS monitors it around the clock, and UnityESS handles operation, maintenance and the warranty as per its terms. Solentra sells you the system and stays your point of contact.
UnityESS engineers size the system, and we send you the quote.
