Two decades of operations, credit and leadership, now in solar

Harjeet Singh is a Computer Science graduate with more than two decades of corporate experience across the telecom and financial sectors. He began his career during the telecom boom and spent 16 years in the industry, at companies including Spice Telecom, Airtel and Tata Indicom, scaling operations, credit, collections, customer service and product design.

He then moved into financial services, taking on senior leadership roles as North and East Regional Head at Capital Float, Regional Collections Head at IDFC First Bank and, finally, National Collections Strategy Head at DCB Bank.

After 23 years in corporate India, he wanted to build something of his own, with an impact he could see and that would last. He chose renewable energy, a sector growing fast, to do it. At Solentra, he brings his experience in strategy, operations and leadership to a solar distribution business, with one aim: to speed up India's move to clean energy.

Energy and climate law, policy and the solar industry

Punya Bhatia's path into solar runs through energy law. She earned a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) with a specialisation in Energy Law from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, and an LL.M. in Energy and Climate Law from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands.

Her experience includes more than two and a half years at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in Chandigarh, working closely with the solar industry, along with research and policy exposure at the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI). That experience spans policy research, regulatory analysis, industry consultations and stakeholder engagement, alongside key institutions across the solar sector.

It has given her a clear view of how India's renewable energy ecosystem works, from the rules that shape it to the people who build it. At Solentra, she brings that legal and policy expertise together with practical industry insight, in service of one mission: making solar energy more accessible through reliable, well-informed and sustainable energy solutions.

From code to clean energy

Tanay Bhatia is a computer engineer from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. During an internship at an agritech startup, he learned about agrivoltaics (agri-PV), growing crops and generating solar power on the same land, and saw how important solar is.

He then spent two years at J.P. Morgan, where he saw many energy companies entering the Indian market. He researched solar, saw huge potential in it, and co-founded Solentra.

He also writes the Solar Brief, our analysis of India's rooftop solar market, built on Solentra's daily tracker data.
